A record partnership between Upul Tharanga and Mahela Jayawardene steered Sri Lanka to a comprehensive nine-wicket victory over Bangladesh in game four of the Idea Cup One-Day International tri-series in Mirpur.
Tharanga and Jayawardene put on 215 for the first wicket, the highest partnership for Sri Lanka against Bangladesh, and the tourists cruised past a victory target of 250 with plenty in reserve.
Both men scored centuries as Sri Lanka put in another impressive all-round performance that left Bangladesh floundering.
Unlike in their opening two matches, Bangladesh failed to get off to a good start after being put into bat and after slipping to 88 for three, they needed innings of 43 from Roqibul Hasan and 47 from captain Shakib Al Hasan to get them back on track but despite some late hitting from Mushfique Rahim (32) and Naeem Islam (24 not out), they could only reach 249 for nine, Nuwan Kulasekara, Tissara Perera and Suraj Randiv all picking up two wickets.
Bangladesh posed Sri Lanka few problems with the ball, Tharanga making an unbeaten 118 in 126 balls and Jayawardene marking his return to the side after injury with 108 in 117 deliveries.
Bangladesh's only breakthrough came when Jayawardene was caught by Rahim off the bowling of Islam but it came far too late to alter the direction of the match.
Kumar Sangakkara was unbeaten on 17 in 14 balls to accompany Tharanga to the finish line, the winning runs hit by Tharanga in the 43rd over.
The next match in the tournament sees India take on Sri Lanka on 10th January.
